Nike Tiempo 7 Project

So I just finished yet another project that included football boots. This time the project took me around 12 hours of work and some additional time for the paintjob.

The idea behind this project is influenced by the recent collaboration between Nike and fashion designer “Off-White” c/o Virgil Abloh. So Nike launched ten footwear classics reconstructed in collaboration with Off-White in late October 2017.

Once I had seen this design I really wanted to create a my version of Off-White in a football boot. I also got a cool concept design made on a computer by my friend Gunt Tansuwannarat. And so I did! Follow my steps through the project.

  1. I bought a pair of Nike Tiempo 7 “Academy Pack”, as they were already coloured black.

2.  I had to get the leather for the Nike logo, it had to be high quality and very thin because if it´s too thick then you will have problem when sewing it. Also make sure you use a needle constructed for leather.

3. Next thing was to print a paper copy of the Nike logo. Then I used it as a model before cutting the actual leather. Before I even started to attach the new leather logo on the boot I marked the position of the logo with a chalk on side of the boot. This helps me to keep the position of the logo while attaching it.

4. Following step is to glue the logo on place. I used a super glue that is suitable for leather. I glued short steps at time so I got it to fit perfectly and go along the the curvy side of the boot.

5. The next step is the hardest part of it all, the sewing of the logo. As normally when these types of boots are factory made they are sewed by machine and that´s only possible before the plastic soleplate is attached. So without lying this step took me like 8 hours of work, this because I were not familiar with this type of sewing and because I had to use pliers to reach when pushing the needle out from the inside of the boot. I have to admit I were really close to give up few times, until I got the right technique.

6. Next thing was to attach the small orange leather tag to the boot, also by sewing.

7. Before bringing them for the paint job I wanted to add a chrome tongue on them. As the boot looked as good with and without tongue I decided to use velcro tape. This allowed me to remove and attach the tongue if I so want. I sew one side of the velcro underneath the original short tongue on the boot and the other I sew into the new chrome tongue.

8. The boots are ready for paint job at my local artist Maalinetti.com
Here is some pics of the boots before paint job with and without tongue.

9. The boots arrive and the project is finished! I am very happy how they turned up, and I feel like it paid off. Thank you for the positive feedback I got on InstaGram (@toffem). Here is some pics of the final boot:

Adidas Predator 1994 Fg

The original Adidas Predator released in 1994 was revolutionary in the way it managed to add
power and swerve to the kick thanks to the rubber fins!

It was Craig Johnston back in 1988, footballer from Australia, who was the key man developing
the first Predator. It was his idea to add the rubber fins, he compared it to table-tennis!

These boots became Adidas biggest revolution in history of football boots!

Thank you for reading and stay tuned I will soon write about the “Milestones in football boot history”.

Restored Adidas Predator Precision Sg “CL-Edition”

About one month ago I bought myself these used Adidas Predator Precision Sg in the sought after “Champions League” edition. I paid £50+shipping and I knew back then that these boots got some potential, although they looked quite beaten up. But it’s always fun with some small projects right?

The issues the boots had was:

  • The aluminium studs were totally broken
  • The white colour was faded
  • The silver colour from the stripes were faded
  • The soleplate was coming off in some parts

All these issues were fixed step by step. Every project starts with a good clean up!

Then the studs were replaced with new ones and the parts off the soleplate that were coming off I simply heated up the plastic and slowly pressed it back on place by using two-component glue. After this it was time for the paintjob. Luckly I found few years back a great local airbrush artist (maalinetti.com) in my home city who also does these kind of jobs.

The final result was perfect! This is how they turned up!

It’s always worth to restore old boots if possible!

Project À la @toffem!

So as you might seen on my InstaGram post I’m gonna have another project! 😎

The boots that are gonna be my project is the legendery Adidas Predator Precision Sg “Champions League” edition! I bought them for £50 and although they look really beat-up I think there is some potential left in them!

So my plan is to fully restore them and then play my final season game in them!

Obviously I need to begin with fully cleaning them. After that I need to reglue the soleplate in thosw places where it’s sligthly coming off, like in the toe area. Then they need a good new paintjob! 👌🏻

I will also add new laces to them! Then the final step is to replace the studs with new ones. As the studs are really worn down, all the way to the screw mechanism, this means that basically the only way to get them off is to saw them in half and brake them.

I’m looking forward to restoring them and hopefully to play the last game in them!

Stay tuned!

Adidas Predator Touch Hg Japan version

Newest addition!

Honestly I have never seen a pair before, Adidas Predator Touch HG made in Japan 🇯🇵 They also brand new condition which is amazing as they were made in 1996-1997.

The leather and stiching really high quality, and another rarety about them is the Hard-Ground soleplate!

I bought them from another collector friend and they really are money well spent, as I dont think I will come across another pair in near future haha!

Also the boots are made for a Japanese football player “Sakata” with his name and number stiched onto the tongue of the boots.

You can also spot a small text printed on the boot in gold colour saying “Predator LE”.

Thank you for reading and I will make a video of them later!

Adidas Predator Accelerator Generation

So I found the last colour of the Adidas Predator Accelerator! I have been looking for the red ones some years now, actually I have owned couple of them in the past but both times the boots were in worser condition than descripted in the listing. But this time I bought them from a friend of mine so I could count on him!

So thanks to my friend for the red pair, now I completed to have all the different colours of the famous Predator Accelerator.

These four colourways were released:

  • White/black
  • Black/red/White
  • Red/black
  • Electricity yellow (limited to a release of 999 pairs worldwide)

And the blue pair in the picture is a custome made pair, I call the colourway “France98”! 😉
